PEER Link
Patient Education & Empowerment Resource
ARC’s Patient Education & Empowerment Resource, PEER Link, is a one-to-one support program that offers amyloidosis patients and caregivers the opportunity to connect with a trained peer mentor around a shared experience.
Patients and caregivers often describe feeling overwhelmed and isolated as they cope with a diagnosis of amyloidosis, managing their symptoms, navigating their treatment, and considering their future. They express the desire to speak with someone who has “been there,” who can relate to their struggles and help them feel less isolated with their amyloidosis.
PEER Link builds on the power of shared experiences to enhance the well-being of patients and caregivers living with the challenging diagnosis of amyloidosis. Mentors help support, empower, and inform their peers who are newer to the amyloidosis community or are experiencing a transition.
Peers are matched with mentors based on type of amyloidosis, age, life stage, and other factors that allow for mutual understanding and shared experiences. Mentors are trained in basic supportive counseling skills, are regularly updated about advances in amyloidosis care and community resources, and are committed to confidentiality.
Have you been living with amyloidosis for 3 years or longer?
